Ireland is grateful to the many sponsors who have supported the Irish Presidency.
The Irish Government signed seven sponsorship contracts in advance of the Irish Presidency of the EU. These sponsorship deals are part of a range of measures the Government has undertaken to deliver a cost-effective Presidency, aimed at keeping government spending down.
The seven companies, in a deal with a total value of €1.4 million, are:
eircom is offering a combination of high speed data capacity, WiFi connectivity for Press Centres and mobile broadband services for delegates to meet the communication needs for the duration of the Presidency.
Audi is to provide A6 saloons for airport-to-hotel travel for heads of delegation at the 11 Ministerial informal events and a limited number of other high profile events throughout the Presidency calendar.
Adobe has provided its Digital Publishing Suite and design support to deliver the Presidency gift to the world of “A History of Ireland in 100 Objects”.
ESB will also being providing the use of electric cars for three key meetings in the Presidency calendar and will be supporting two evening events during the Presidency.
UPC is providing an expanded 200Mbps broadband service over its fibre powered network at Dublin Castle.
Certification Europe has worked with Dublin Castle and the OPW in relation to its standard certification for Event Sustainability and Environmental Management Systems.
Visit It Virtually has created a 3D animated reconstruction of Dublin Castle for the Presidency website (eu2013.ie), which is also to be used on the Dublin Castle website (dublincastle.ie).
Agtel has provided a kinetic text animated video explaining the Irish Presidency for eu2013.ie.
Innovative solutions to Presidency requirements were sought and found, including the use of electric cars for some Presidency events, a virtual tour of Dublin Castle for visitors and provision of kinetic typography for the Presidency website.
All sponsorship contracts were awarded in strict compliance with the correct procurement standards required by Government Departments. In seeking sponsorship for the Presidency, a Request for Sponsorship Proposals in connection with Ireland’s Presidency of the EU Council was published in June 2012 on Government eTenders.
